If you have replaced your Audi ECU with a used or donor unit and the VIN does not match the rest of the car, your ECU needs to be reprogrammed with your VIN before VCDS / ODIS coding and emissions monitors will agree with the rest of the network. If you are unsure which option matches your Audi module, the safest path is to email or text us photos before ordering: full label of the original module (the one you want serviced), full label of the donor module if you already have one, the part number, hardware revision, and software/calibration sticker, and a photo of the connector pinout if visible. We will confirm whether the service is supported for your specific part number and hardware revision before you order and ship.

Compatibility Warning

VIN programming requires the original ECU to be readable at the bench level and the target VIN to be valid for the ECU hardware/calibration. Some newer Audi ECUs require additional steps because of stronger pairing to the cluster, Kessy, and the rest of the car.

• If applicable: a donor module, clearly marked “DONOR” — same part number family and hardware revision as the original

Do I need to send a donor ECU? No — for VIN programming we only need your existing ECU and the target VIN.
