Audi Gateway / J533 / Diagnostic Bus Services

The Audi gateway module (J533) is the central CAN gateway between the powertrain bus, comfort bus, infotainment bus, and diagnostic bus. When the gateway fails, multiple unrelated modules go offline at the same time on VCDS / ODIS scans. We perform Audi gateway clone work on the bench for compatible platforms.

Not Sure Which Service to Choose?

If you are unsure which option matches your Audi module, the safest path is to email or text us photos before ordering: full label of the original module (the one you want serviced), full label of the donor module if you already have one, the part number, hardware revision, and software/calibration sticker, and a photo of the connector pinout if visible. We will confirm whether the service is supported for your specific part number and hardware revision before you order and ship.

Compatibility Warning

Gateway cloning requires a donor of the same part number prefix and same hardware revision. Different J533 generations across PQ35, PQ46, MLB, MLB-evo, and MQB platforms are not cross-compatible. Send us a photo of the gateway label before purchasing a donor.

What to Ship

  • Your original Audi module (the failed/locked unit), clearly marked “ORIGINAL”
  • If applicable: a donor module, clearly marked “DONOR” — same part number family and hardware revision as the original
  • Your order receipt printed, or order number written on a slip in the box
  • Your return shipping address
  • Ship to the address shown on your order receipt at checkout (we operate from 2 locations and route based on tool availability and turnaround)

FAQ

What does the gateway clone preserve? VIN, component protection where readable, coded options, and personalization data.

How do I know if my gateway has failed? VCDS / ODIS scan returns “no communication” with multiple modules at once, or returns no data from any module on the comfort or powertrain bus.

Does the gateway clone need ODIS coding after install? In most cases no — the clone preserves the SCN coding and the donor presents the diagnostic tool with the same data as the original.
