Every KTM Bosch and Keihin ECU from 1998 through 2026 — flagship V-twin sport (1390 Super Duke R / R EVO 2024+, 1290 Super Duke R / R EVO 2014-2024, 1290 Super Duke GT, 1290 Super Adventure R / S 2015-2026), parallel-twin (990 Super Duke R 2024+, 890 Duke R 2020-2023, 890 Adventure / R / Rally 2021-2026, 790 Duke / Adventure 2018-2020, all-new 790 Duke return 2023+), large single (690 Duke 2008-2026, 690 Enduro R, 690 SMC R), 390 platform made in India with Bajaj (390 Duke, RC 390, 390 Adventure, 390 SMC R 2013-2026), small-displacement (250 Duke, 200 Duke, 125 Duke), RC sport (RC 8C track-only 2022+, RC 390 / RC 200 / RC 125), motocross EFI (450 SX-F, 350 SX-F, 250 SX-F all 2008+ fuel-injected, plus 250 SX 2-stroke TPI 2018+), enduro EFI (450 EXC-F, 350 EXC-F, 250 EXC-F, 500 EXC-F, plus the unique fuel-injected 2-stroke 300 EXC TPI / 250 EXC TPI / 150 EXC TPI 2018-2026), legacy 990 Adventure / 950 Adventure / 640 Adventure / 640 LC4 / 950 Super Enduro — can be 1:1 cloned to a donor module. Karmanauto reads the EEPROM and Flash memory bit-for-bit, writes them to your replacement ECU, preserves your original VIN (17-digit on street KTM), mileage, immobilizer transponder pairing on equipped Super Adventure / Super Duke R, MSC (Motorcycle Stability Control) Bosch 6-axis IMU calibration on equipped 1290 Super Duke / 1290 Super Adventure / 890 Adventure / 890 Duke R / 790 Duke, MTC (Motorcycle Traction Control), MSR (Motor Slip Regulation), Quickshifter+ Sensor calibration, Riding Modes, cornering ABS, KTM PowerParts software unlock keys (Track Pack with launch control + anti-wheelie off + full slick mode, Tech Pack with cornering ABS + MTC + MSR + quickshifter, Performance Pack with Akrapovic flash, Rally Pack for 1290 Super Adventure R rally mode), learned fuel trim, idle calibration, and any aftermarket overlay loaded by Akrapovic tune, Rottweiler Performance flash, GPR Tronic, KTM PowerParts Race Pro calibration, or Bosch ME17 reflash, and returns a plug-and-play replacement — no KTM XC1 / Tune-ECU dealer programming, no relearn.
A new KTM ECU from the dealer is VIN-blank, mileage-blank, immobilizer-unpaired, and crucially — has NO PowerParts software unlocks. After install, the dealer must use KTM XC1 / Tune-ECU / KTM Diagnostic Tool to write your VIN, link the ECU to your immobilizer on equipped models, pair the Bosch IMU for MSC (Motorcycle Stability Control) cornering ABS on 1290 Super Duke / 1290 Super Adventure / 890 Adventure / 890 Duke R, recalibrate Riding Modes, AND re-purchase every PowerParts software unlock you previously paid for — Track Pack (launch control + anti-wheelie off + full slick mode, $300-$700), Tech Pack (cornering ABS + MTC + MSR + quickshifter+, $400-$1,200), Performance Pack (Akrapovic factory flash, $500-$1,500), Rally Pack (1290 Super Adventure R rally mode + offroad ABS, $400). On Super Duke / Super Adventure / 890 Duke R, a full set of PowerParts unlocks plus the new ECU plus XC1 programming labor can easily hit $4,000-$6,000.
Our 1:1 EEPROM + Flash clone reads your original ECU at the chip level, writes the entire firmware + base calibration + VIN + mileage + immobilizer pairing + IMU pairing + every PowerParts software unlock key you’ve ever activated + any Akrapovic / Rottweiler Performance / GPR Tronic / KTM Race Pro overlay to a donor ECU, and ships it back same day. No XC1, no Tune-ECU, no dealer, no re-purchase of PowerParts unlocks, plug-and-play. Your KTM fires on the first crank with the same key you’ve always used, with every Track Pack / Tech Pack / Performance Pack / Rally Pack feature still active.
Covers every KTM ECU 1998–2026 — including the all-new 1390 Super Duke R / R EVO (2024-2026, current flagship 1350cc V-twin, 190 HP, semi-active suspension, full Track Pack as standard), 1290 Super Duke R / R EVO (2014-2024, “The Beast,” 180 HP, MSC cornering ABS, MTC, MSR), 1290 Super Duke GT sport-tourer (2016-2022), 1290 Super Adventure R / S (2015-2026, the world-class adventure flagship, 160 HP, Bosch 6-axis IMU, ACC radar option, Rally Pack), 990 Super Duke R (all-new 2024+ replacing 890, 947cc parallel-twin, 123 HP), 890 Duke R / 890 Duke / 890 Duke GP (2020-2023, “Scalpel,” 121 HP), 890 Adventure / 890 Adventure R / 890 Adventure Rally (2021-2026, mid-displacement ADV), 790 Duke (2018-2020 + 2023+ return, “Scalpel” 799cc), 790 Adventure / 790 Adventure R (2019-2020), 690 Duke / 690 Duke R (2008-2026 single, 75 HP), 690 SMC R supermoto, 690 Enduro R, 690 SMC, 990 Adventure / 990 Adventure R (legacy 2006-2013 V-twin), 950 Adventure (legacy 2003-2007 V-twin), 950 Super Enduro, 640 Adventure / 640 LC4 (legacy single 1998-2007), 390 Duke (2013-2026, India-built with Bajaj, 44 HP), 390 Adventure (2020-2026), 390 SMC R (2024+), RC 390 (2014-2026 sport), 250 Duke (2017-2026), 250 Adventure (2020-2026), 200 Duke (2012-2026), 125 Duke (2011-2026), RC 200 / RC 125 (2014-2026), RC 8C track-only carbon-bodied special (2022-2026, 128 HP, hand-built limited production), 450 SX-F / Factory Edition (2008-2026 EFI motocross), 350 SX-F / Factory Edition (2010-2026), 250 SX-F / Factory Edition (2009-2026), 450 EXC-F / 350 EXC-F / 250 EXC-F / 500 EXC-F enduro (2008-2026), 300 EXC TPI / 250 EXC TPI (2018-2026, the world’s first production fuel-injected 2-stroke, KTM’s revolutionary Transfer Port Injection), 150 EXC TPI (2020-2026, the smallest TPI 2-stroke), 250 SX 2-stroke TPI (2023-2026), 85 SX / 65 SX / 50 SX (mini motocross, FI on newer years), Freeride E-XC electric off-road, RC 8R legacy track (2008-2015). When a KTM ECU fails — and it happens on 1290 Super Duke R from Bosch ME17 thermal damage during track use, on 1290 Super Adventure from moisture intrusion at the IMU connector after wet ADV rides, on 890/990 Duke R from first-generation ride-by-wire calibration corruption, on 690 single from cooling-fan thermal cycling, on 300 EXC TPI (2018-2019 early units) from injection system fault that latches in ECU, on EXC-F / SX-F motocross from crash impact, on Indian-built 390 Duke from EEPROM corruption in high-heat climates, on any KTM after a botched Akrapovic flash / Rottweiler Performance flash / KTM PowerParts Race Pro calibration / Tune-ECU upload, or on any older KTM from EEPROM degradation after 15+ years — the dealer’s only fix is a new VIN-blank ECU plus XC1 programming labor PLUS re-purchase of all PowerParts software unlocks. We clone your original ECU 1:1 to a donor unit, preserve every byte of EEPROM (VIN, mileage, immobilizer transponder data, learned fuel trim, ISC steps, throttle position learned values, MSC IMU calibration, MTC / MSR calibration, Quickshifter+ Sensor calibration, every PowerParts software unlock key — Track Pack / Tech Pack / Performance Pack / Rally Pack, Riding Modes, ride-by-wire calibration, any aftermarket overlay), and return a fully-functional plug-and-play replacement. Karmanauto has been cloning KTM ECUs since the first fuel-injected 990 Adventure rolled out in 2006 — every generation since (the 1190 RC8 era, the 1290 Super Duke R “Beast” era, the 1290 Super Adventure ADV flagship, the LC8c parallel-twin generation, the TPI 2-stroke revolution, and the all-new 1390 Super Duke R) decoded and cloned on the bench.

Common KTM ECU failure modes — why your KTM died
KTM Bosch ECUs are built to a high standard, but after 10-25 years of “Ready to Race” use, certain KTM-specific failure modes show up repeatedly on the bench:
- 1290 Super Duke R Bosch ME17 thermal damage from track use (2014-2024) — “The Beast” is one of the most aggressive nakeds ever built. Hard track use (sustained 10,000+ RPM, full Track Pack with launch control, anti-wheelie off) cooks the Bosch ME17 ECU. Symptoms: limp mode mid-session, MIL, MSC fault codes, MTC disables, eventual permanent damage. Same issue on 1290 Super Duke GT and 1290 Super Adventure R.
- 1290 Super Adventure moisture intrusion at IMU connector (2015-2026) — KTM Super Adventure R/S is the world-class ADV bike — and gets water-crossed, river-forded, and pressure-washed worldwide. The Bosch 6-axis IMU mounted on the frame near the engine, plus the ECU under the seat, both have connector seals that degrade after 4-6 years. Symptoms: random MSC fault, cornering ABS limp mode, MTC disables, intermittent stalling.
- 890/990 Duke R first-gen ride-by-wire glitch (2020-2024) — The LC8c parallel-twin 890 Duke R and the new 990 Super Duke R have ride-by-wire throttle systems that occasionally develop calibration corruption after 10,000+ miles. Symptoms: throttle “blip” at low RPM, surge on cruise, intermittent stalls.
- 690 single cooling fan / heat damage (2008-2026) — The KTM 690 Duke / 690 SMC R / 690 Enduro R / 690 SMC carries the massive LC4 690cc single — the largest production single-cylinder motorcycle engine. Heat soak after long rides damages the ECU. Symptoms: hot-idle stalling, hard hot-restart, intermittent MIL.
- 300 EXC TPI / 250 EXC TPI 2-stroke injection fault (2018-2019 early units) — The world’s first production fuel-injected 2-stroke. Early 2018-2019 units had TPI (Transfer Port Injection) calibration faults that latch in the ECU. Symptoms: hard start, lean burble at idle, fouling, MIL. Our clone clears the latched faults and restores the original TPI calibration.
- EXC-F / SX-F motocross crash damage (2008-2026) — KTM 450 SX-F / 350 SX-F / 250 SX-F motocross and 450 EXC-F / 350 EXC-F / 500 EXC-F enduro bikes get crashed regularly. Crash impact damages the ECU casing or breaks internal solder joints. Symptoms: dead ECU, no spark, no fuel pump prime, no XC1 communication.
- Indian-built 390 / 250 / 200 / 125 Duke EEPROM corruption (2013-2026) — KTM small-displacement (390 Duke, RC 390, 250 Duke, 200 Duke, 125 Duke, 390 Adventure, 250 Adventure) is built in India by Bajaj. After 30,000+ km in high-heat Indian climate, ECU EEPROM cells can develop corruption. Symptoms: bike runs lean, random fault codes, eventual no-start cold.
- Failed Akrapovic flash / Rottweiler Performance flash / KTM PowerParts Race Pro calibration — KTM tuning is dominated by Akrapovic full-system flash, Rottweiler Performance flash (very popular on 690/790/890 Duke), GPR Tronic, KTM PowerParts Race Pro calibration (for SX-F/EXC-F race trim), and third-party Bosch ME17 reflash. A botched flash with the wrong file or interrupted power can lock the ECU in bootloader-only mode. We recover the bootloader and restore working calibration.
- Lost PowerParts software unlocks after ECU swap — The most painful KTM scenario. Owner installs new dealer ECU, loses Track Pack ($300-$700), Tech Pack ($400-$1,200), Performance Pack ($500-$1,500), Rally Pack ($400) — has to re-purchase them all. Our clone preserves every PowerParts unlock key in the EEPROM, so the donor ECU has every feature you paid for.
- EEPROM degradation on older KTM (1998-2008) — After 15-25 years, EEPROM cells lose charge. Affects 640 Adventure, 640 LC4, 950 Adventure, 950 Super Enduro, early 990 Adventure. Symptoms: bike runs lean, random fault codes, eventual no-start cold.
- RC 8C track-only ECU damage (2022-2026) — KTM’s hand-built carbon-bodied track special. Heavy track use damages the race-spec ECU. Limited production means donor sourcing is difficult — we clone before damage becomes terminal.
The fix in every case above is the same: 1:1 clone your original KTM ECU’s data to a known-good donor unit before the damaged unit becomes unrecoverable. We can clone from a partially-damaged ECU as long as the EEPROM and Flash are still readable — and in most cases they are, even on ECUs that no longer power up the bike. Ship it in. We will tell you up front if the data is recoverable.

When You Need a KTM ECU Clone
KTM dealer quoted you a new VIN-blank ECU — you’ll lose all PowerParts unlocks
The single most common reason customers ship us a KTM ECU is the dealer quote. Authorized KTM dealers cannot service Bosch ECUs at the chip level. Their only repair path is a brand-new VIN-blank KTM unit ordered from KTM-AG, plus XC1 / Tune-ECU programming labor to write your VIN, link the ECU to your immobilizer on equipped models, pair the Bosch IMU for MSC, recalibrate Riding Modes, and re-register your transponder keys — typical dealer charge $1,000–$3,000 depending on model. PLUS, you lose every PowerParts software unlock you previously paid for and have to re-purchase: Track Pack ($300-$700), Tech Pack ($400-$1,200), Performance Pack ($500-$1,500), Rally Pack ($400). Our 1:1 clone of your original ECU to a donor unit eliminates the VIN write, mileage write, immobilizer re-pair, IMU recalibration, transponder key registration, AND preserves every PowerParts unlock. Plug-and-play.
KTM cranks but won’t start (immobilizer gated on Super Adventure / Super Duke R)
The 1290 Super Adventure and 1290 Super Duke R (2014-2024) and 1390 Super Duke R (2024+) carry an immobilizer transponder system. After ECU failure or a botched swap, the bike cranks but no fuel pump prime, no spark. Our clone preserves the immobilizer pairing.
1290 Super Duke R / 1290 Super Adventure won’t start after track-day or river crossing
The “Beast” 1290 Super Duke R thermal damage from track use, or 1290 Super Adventure moisture intrusion from river fording — both common. We recover the data and clone to a fresh donor with VIN, immobilizer, IMU pairing, AND all PowerParts unlocks preserved.
890/990 Duke R ride-by-wire surge
The 890 Duke R and new 990 Super Duke R first-generation ride-by-wire can develop calibration corruption. Our clone restores correct calibration on a fresh donor.
300 EXC TPI 2-stroke won’t start after fault
The world’s first fuel-injected 2-stroke (KTM 300 EXC TPI / 250 EXC TPI 2018+) can develop TPI calibration faults that latch in the ECU. Our clone clears the fault and restores TPI calibration.
EXC-F / SX-F won’t start after crash
KTM 450/350/250 SX-F motocross and 450/350/250/500 EXC-F enduro crashed-bike ECUs. We can often recover data from cracked-case ECUs.
Failed Akrapovic flash / Rottweiler Performance flash / KTM Race Pro calibration
KTM aftermarket tuning is huge — Akrapovic factory tune, Rottweiler Performance tune (industry standard on 690/790/890 Duke), GPR Tronic, KTM PowerParts Race Pro calibration for SX-F/EXC-F. A botched flash can lock the ECU. We recover the bootloader and restore working calibration.
Indian-built 390 / 250 / 200 Duke won’t start (heat damage)
KTM small-displacement single (390 Duke, RC 390, 250 Duke, 200 Duke, 125 Duke, 390 Adventure, 250 Adventure — all built in India with Bajaj) in high-heat climates develops EEPROM corruption. Our clone restores working EEPROM data.
Building a custom or rebuilt KTM with mismatched parts
Salvage-title KTMs often have ECUs paired to a different VIN, mismatched immobilizer data, or missing PowerParts unlocks. We clone the correct data including all unlocks to the correct chassis ECU.
If your KTM ECU is a Bosch ME17 / Bosch MS6 / Bosch MED17 / Keihin (small-displacement Indian-built models), it is supported. KTM uses Bosch unit identifier 0 261 S0X XXX on the Bosch hardware label, plus KTM part numbers in the 60XXXXXX / 77XXXXXX / 90XXXXXX series on the KTM-branded label. If your suffix is not explicitly listed below, ship it anyway — we clone it.

What our clone clears: A 1:1 clone preserves all original ECU data including PowerParts software unlocks. Internal fault codes caused by physical sensor failures will reappear after install unless those underlying issues are fixed in the bike. ECU internal faults (P0601-P0606) on the original unit are eliminated by cloning to a known-good donor.
What our 1:1 clone actually does — including PowerParts unlock preservation
We read your original KTM ECU at the chip level — both the EEPROM (which contains VIN, mileage, immobilizer transponder pairing, fuel trim adaptations, ISC steps, throttle position learned values, MSC IMU calibration on equipped models, MTC / MSR / Quickshifter+ calibration, every PowerParts software unlock key — Track Pack, Tech Pack, Performance Pack, Rally Pack, Race Pack — Riding Modes Pro calibration, ride-by-wire calibration, fault history) and the Flash memory (which contains the firmware, base calibration, and any Akrapovic flash / Rottweiler Performance flash / GPR Tronic / KTM Race Pro / Tune-ECU overlay).
We then write every byte to your donor ECU. The donor ECU physically becomes a 1:1 functional duplicate of your original. Same VIN. Same mileage. Same immobilizer pairing. Same calibration. Same Akrapovic / Rottweiler overlay if installed. Same PowerParts unlocks. Same fault history (or optionally cleared if requested).
Our clone does not repair active fault codes caused by physical problems in the bike. If a P-code is caused by a real wiring or component issue, it has to be physically repaired. The clone gives you a working ECU with every PowerParts feature you paid for still active. It does not magically fix bad hardware elsewhere.

KTM ECU Location by Model
1390 / 1290 Super Duke R / GT ECU location
The Super Duke R ECU is mounted under the rider seat or under the tank on the airbox top. To access:
- Disconnect negative battery terminal (battery is under the rider seat).
- Remove the rider seat (key release or 2 Allen bolts).
- The ECU is mounted on a bracket on the rear subframe or airbox top. Release main harness connector lock, unbolt ECU, lift out.
- On 1390 Super Duke R EVO, the ECU is in a sealed enclosure under the seat for heat protection during track use.
1290 Super Adventure / 890 Adventure / 790 Adventure ECU location
The Super Adventure ECU is mounted under the rider seat on the subframe. The Bosch IMU is separately mounted on the frame near the engine — verify IMU connector seal integrity when reinstalling, as moisture intrusion at this connector is a common failure mode.
890/990 Duke R / 790 Duke ECU location
The LC8c-platform Duke ECU is mounted under the rider seat. Remove seat, locate ECU, release connector, unbolt, lift out.
690 Duke / 690 SMC R / 690 Enduro R ECU location
The 690 single ECU is mounted under the rider seat or behind the side panel. Remove seat / panel, locate ECU, release connector, unbolt, lift out.
390 / 250 / 200 / 125 Duke / RC small-displacement ECU location
The small-displacement Duke ECU is mounted under the rider seat or behind the side panel — typically a smaller Bosch unit. Easy access, but check connector seal integrity for moisture damage in tropical climates.
SX-F / EXC-F motocross / enduro ECU location
The motocross / enduro ECU is mounted on the frame near the airbox, under the seat — sealed connector for crash and water protection. Remove seat, locate ECU, release connector, unbolt, lift out. Verify connector seal integrity after creek-crossing or pressure-wash.
300 EXC TPI / 250 EXC TPI 2-stroke ECU location
The TPI 2-stroke ECU is mounted under the rider seat — similar to EXC-F access. The TPI injection rail is mounted on the cylinder where the transfer ports are — separate from ECU but interconnected via harness. A clone preserves TPI calibration in the ECU.
Safety notes for all KTM ECU removals
Always disconnect the negative battery terminal at the battery box before touching any ECU harness. Wait 1 minute for capacitor discharge. Do not apply 12V to any ECU circuit out of vehicle. Store the removed ECU in its original anti-static bag or wrap in anti-static material for shipping. Note the immobilizer transponder key position when disconnecting on Super Adventure / Super Duke R / 1390 — if you re-key the bike during a clone, you’ll need both the original transponder key AND any new keys for the immobilizer to learn. On MSC-equipped KTMs (1290/1390 Super Duke R, 1290 Super Adventure, 890 Adventure, 890 Duke R, 790 Duke), the Bosch IMU calibration is stored in the ECU EEPROM and a clone preserves it. Critical: on KTMs with PowerParts unlocks (Track Pack, Tech Pack, Performance Pack, Rally Pack), a clone preserves every unlock — replacing the ECU at the dealer means losing every unlock.
The Karmanauto KTM ECU Clone Process
When your KTM ECU arrives at our facility, here is exactly what happens.
- Intake and inspection. Your original ECU and donor ECU are logged into our tracking system with your customer ID and order number. KTM part numbers (60XXXXXXX / 76XXXXXXX / 77XXXXXXX / 79XXXXXXX / 90XXXXXXX on the KTM label), Bosch unit identifier (0 261 S0X XXX), VIN, mileage (where readable), and shipping date are recorded. Both modules are visually inspected for water damage, burn marks, connector pin damage, and physical cracks.
- Bench power-up. Both ECUs are connected to our KTM bench harness that simulates the bike environment. Power, ground, CAN-bus, immobilizer challenge/response, IMU simulation (MSC models), and all sensor circuits are simulated at the correct KTM-specified values.
- Initial read. We read every byte from the original ECU — Flash memory (firmware + base calibration + any Akrapovic / Rottweiler Performance / GPR Tronic / KTM Race Pro / Tune-ECU overlay) and EEPROM (VIN, mileage, immobilizer pairing, fuel trim adaptations, ISC steps, learned values, MSC IMU calibration, every PowerParts software unlock — Track Pack, Tech Pack, Performance Pack, Rally Pack — Quickshifter+ calibration, fault history). A pre-clone report is generated.
- Donor verification. Your donor ECU is verified as the correct KTM 60/76/77/79/90 part number family for your bike. We confirm the donor is a clean, factory-state unit with no prior VIN pairing.
- 1:1 write. Every Flash byte and every EEPROM byte is written from your original to your donor. Bit-for-bit duplicate. The donor ECU physically becomes a functional replacement for your original with every PowerParts unlock active.
- Verify read-back. We re-read the donor and compare to the original. Every byte must match.
- Bench function test. The cloned donor is run through bench simulation: TPS pickup test, MAP pickup test, CKP pickup test, injector driver test, coil driver test, fuel pump prime test, CAN-bus communication test, immobilizer challenge/response test with simulated transponder key, IMU communication test on MSC models, PowerParts unlock validation test.
- Packaging and shipping. Both ECUs (cloned donor and your original, returned to you for your records) are placed in new anti-static bags, cushion-wrapped, and shipped back via the return method you selected.
Total turnaround: Same-day processing for ECUs arriving before 2pm local time. Standard shipping is FedEx Ground. Overnight options available.
Warranty, Turnaround, and Shipping
Our guarantee: Your original ECU’s EEPROM and Flash data are backed up on our servers before the clone and the donor’s data is backed up after the clone, filed under your order number. The 1:1 clone itself is guaranteed including all PowerParts unlocks — if the donor ECU does not run your bike or does not have your PowerParts unlocks active (assuming your installation is correct, your battery is good, and your bike’s wiring is intact), we recheck and re-clone it free of charge. Turnaround: Same-day clone processing for ECUs received by 2pm. Shipping: Ship your ECU (both original and donor) to our facility using any trackable method. FedEx Ground is fastest for continental US. International customers: we service KTM ECUs shipped from Canada, Mexico, UK, EU (Austria home market), Australia, Japan, India (huge 390/250/200/125 market), South Africa, and most other markets. Packaging: Wrap each ECU in anti-static bubble wrap or ESD bag, place in a rigid cardboard box with padding, include a slip of paper with your name, phone number, email, return address, VIN, model year, model (1290 Super Duke R 2022, 890 Adventure R 2023, 300 EXC TPI 2024, 450 SX-F Factory Edition 2025, etc.), and a note identifying which ECU is the original and which is the donor. If you have PowerParts unlocks active, note them on the slip — we verify all unlocks transfer correctly.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will my KTM PowerParts software unlocks (Track Pack / Tech Pack / Performance Pack / Rally Pack) transfer to the cloned ECU?
Yes — this is one of the most valuable benefits of a 1:1 clone. The clone copies the entire EEPROM region that contains every PowerParts software unlock key. Your Track Pack (launch control, anti-wheelie off, full slick mode), Tech Pack (cornering ABS, MTC, MSR, quickshifter), Performance Pack (Akrapovic factory flash), Rally Pack (rally mode for 1290 Super Adventure R) — all transfer to the donor ECU exactly as activated on the original. This single feature can save $1,500-$3,000 versus a dealer ECU replacement.
Can a KTM ECU be cloned to a different ECU?
Yes. Every KTM Bosch ME17 / MS6 / MED17 / Keihin (small-displacement Indian-built) ECU can be 1:1 cloned. The Flash and EEPROM are accessible at the chip level. We read every byte from your original and write every byte to your donor ECU. The donor becomes a functional replacement that runs your 1390/1290 Super Duke R / Super Adventure / 890/990 Duke R / 690 Duke / 390 Duke / RC 8C / SX-F / EXC-F / TPI 2-stroke on first crank — no XC1, no Tune-ECU, no dealer, no Akrapovic re-upload, no PowerParts re-purchase.
Will I need to take the bike to the KTM dealer after a clone?
No. The clone preserves your VIN, mileage, immobilizer pairing, MSC IMU calibration, Riding Modes Pro, every PowerParts unlock, and every other byte from the original ECU. Plug the donor in, key on, fuel pump primes, bike fires. No dealer trip required.
Do I need to send a donor ECU, or can you supply one?
You can ship us both your original ECU and a donor ECU (we recommend a known-good used unit of the same KTM part number family). We do not currently stock donor ECUs for every model — please source your own donor or contact us to ask about availability.
What if my KTM ECU is completely dead?
Often the Flash and EEPROM are still readable even when the ECU does not power up the bike. We use bench programming hardware that connects directly to the chip. Ship it in — we will tell you up front if the data is recoverable, including all PowerParts unlocks.
How long does it take to clone my KTM ECU?
Same-day processing for ECUs arriving at our facility before 2pm. Total turnaround from ship to return is typically 2–4 business days.
Will my Akrapovic / Rottweiler Performance / GPR Tronic / KTM Race Pro tune carry over?
Yes. The clone copies the entire Flash region including any aftermarket tune overlay. The donor ECU will run your bike exactly as the original ran.
Does the clone clear my fault codes?
By default we preserve the fault history bit-for-bit. If you want the donor returned with fault history cleared, write “clear codes” on the slip you include in the box.
Will my MSC / cornering ABS / MTC / quickshifter+ calibration work after the clone?
Yes. The clone preserves the entire IMU pairing data, MSC calibration, MTC traction control, MSR motor slip regulation, and Quickshifter+ Sensor calibration. The cloned donor runs every Tech Pack feature exactly as your original.
What about TPI calibration on 300/250/150 EXC TPI 2-stroke?
Preserved bit-for-bit. The donor ECU runs your TPI 2-stroke exactly as the original — no relearn needed, no Tune-ECU upload required.
Is it legal to clone a KTM ECU?
Yes. Cloning your own vehicle’s ECU is legal in every US state, every Canadian province, and most international jurisdictions.
What if my KTM is a salvage or rebuilt title?
We clone KTM ECUs on any motorcycle regardless of title status.
Do you service KTMs sold outside the US?
Yes. Canadian, Mexican, European (KTM’s home market — Mattighofen, Austria), UK, Australian, Japanese, Indian (huge small-displacement market), South African KTMs use the same Bosch ECU families. Ship internationally.
My KTM part number is not in your list. Is my ECU still covered?
Yes. Our list is not exhaustive. Every KTM Bosch ECU 1998 forward is covered.
Do you work with KTM shops and dealers?
Yes. We service independent KTM shops, performance tuners (Rottweiler Performance dealers, Akrapovic shops, GPR Tronic specialists, KTM PowerParts Race Pro tuners), SX-F/EXC-F race teams, and powersports dealerships across North America. Same-day turnaround, wholesale pricing available.
