Subaru ECU Services
Karman Auto offers Subaru ECU / ECM / PCM services via mail-in — supporting many Subaru Denso and Hitachi ECU families across SH7058, SH72531, and related processors. We support cloning, VIN programming, immobilizer-off, and related ECU services for many Subaru models from roughly 2000–2025, depending on ECU type, part number, processor, and donor compatibility. In many cases, cloning can avoid dealer replacement and programming when a compatible donor ECU is available.
Available Services
Not Sure Which Service to Choose?
If you are unsure which option matches your Subaru module, the safest path is to email or text us photos before ordering:
- Full label of the original module (the one you want serviced)
- Full label of the donor module, if you already have one
- The part number, hardware revision, and software/calibration sticker
- Photo of the connector pinout if visible
We will confirm whether the service is supported for your specific part number and hardware revision before you order and ship.
Compatibility Warning
Part number and hardware revision compatibility matter. Cloning and many programming services only work when the original module can be read AND a compatible donor of the same hardware family is available — for example, Denso to Denso, Hitachi to Hitachi, SH7058 to SH7058, SH72531 to SH72531. Mismatched part numbers, different processors, or different hardware revisions typically cannot be cloned. If unsure, send label photos so we can verify compatibility before you ship.
What to Ship
- Your original Subaru module (the failed/locked unit), clearly marked “ORIGINAL”
- If applicable: a donor module, clearly marked “DONOR” — same part number family and hardware revision as the original
- Your order receipt printed, or order number written on a slip in the box
- Your return shipping address
- Ship to the address shown on your order receipt at checkout (we operate from 2 locations and route based on tool availability and turnaround)

FAQ
Which Subaru ECUs are supported?
We support many Subaru Denso and Hitachi ECU families across SH7058, SH72531, and related processors — typically across Forester, Crosstrek, Impreza, Legacy, Outback, Ascent, BRZ, WRX, and STI from roughly 2000 through 2025. Coverage depends on part number, hardware revision, and donor compatibility. Send a photo of your ECU label if you want us to confirm support for your specific unit before you order.
Do I need to ship both modules?
For cloning, generally yes — ship your original ECU plus a donor ECU of the same hardware family (Denso to Denso, Hitachi to Hitachi, SH7058 to SH7058, SH72531 to SH72531) when available. For VIN programming or IMMO Off, the original ECU alone is typically enough.
Will my keys still work after the service?
In most clone services we transfer supported VIN and immobilizer/key data when readable, so existing keys typically continue to work. On IMMO Off services the immobilizer requirement is removed (no key sync needed). On VIN programming we re-pair the ECU to your existing VIN where supported.
Turnaround?
Same-day processing for modules received before 2pm in most cases. Total ship-to-running is typically 2–4 business days. Overnight shipping in both directions can compress this further.
Is this dealer-equivalent?
In many cases, our cloning and programming services can avoid dealer replacement and programming when a compatible donor module is available and the original module can be read. Some edge cases (such as severely damaged ECUs with unreadable EEPROM) may still require dealer involvement.
