Mercedes ECU / ME / SIM / EDC Services

Karman Auto offers Mercedes ECU / ME / SIM / EDC / CDI services via mail-in — supporting many Mercedes engine control unit families including ME ECUs, SIM ECUs, CDI diesel ECUs, EDC17 generations, and FBS3 / FBS4 era control units. We support cloning, VIN programming, immobilizer-off, and FBS4 virginizing for many Mercedes models from roughly 2000 through 2025, depending on ECU type, part number, processor, and donor compatibility. In many cases, cloning can avoid dealer replacement and SCN coding when a compatible donor ECU is available.

Not Sure Which Service to Choose?

If you are unsure which option matches your Mercedes module, the safest path is to email or text us photos before ordering: full label of the original module (the one you want serviced), full label of the donor module if you already have one, the part number, hardware revision, and software/calibration sticker, and a photo of the connector pinout if visible. We will confirm whether the service is supported for your specific part number and hardware revision before you order and ship.

Compatibility Warning

Part number and hardware revision compatibility matter. Mercedes ECU cloning and many programming services only work when the original module can be read AND a compatible donor of the same hardware family is available — for example, ME to ME, SIM to SIM, EDC17 to EDC17 with matching CPxx variant. Mismatched part numbers, different processors, or different hardware revisions typically cannot be cloned 1:1.

What to Ship

  • Your original Mercedes module (the failed/locked unit), clearly marked “ORIGINAL”
  • If applicable: a donor module, clearly marked “DONOR” — same part number family and hardware revision as the original
  • Your order receipt printed, or order number written on a slip in the box
  • Your return shipping address
  • Ship to the address shown on your order receipt at checkout (we operate from 2 locations and route based on tool availability and turnaround)

FAQ

Which Mercedes ECUs are supported? We support many Mercedes ME, SIM, CDI, and EDC17 ECU families across the FBS2, FBS3, and FBS4 eras — typically across C-Class, E-Class, S-Class, CLS, CLA, GLC, GLE, GLS, ML, GL, SL, A-Class, Sprinter, and Vito from roughly 2000 through 2025. Coverage depends on part number, hardware revision, and donor compatibility.

Do I need to ship both modules? For cloning, generally yes — original plus a donor of the same hardware family. For VIN programming, IMMO Off, or Virginizing, the original alone is typically enough.

Will my keys still work after the service? In most clone services we transfer supported VIN and immobilizer data when readable. On IMMO Off services the immobilizer requirement is removed. On Virginizing the ECU is reset to factory state and needs to be re-paired via Mercedes SCN coding.

What about FBS4 (2014+)? FBS4 Mercedes have the ECU, EIS, ISM, and TCU all paired to the car. Cloning works when a compatible donor is available; virginizing is required if you are installing an FBS4 ECU pulled from a different car.
