Subaru ECU IMMO Off
Subaru ECU IMMO Off service — disable the immobilizer requirement in supported Subaru Denso SH7058 and SH72531 ECUs when the original ECU can be read. After IMMO Off, the ECU typically does not require key chip recognition, SKIM pairing, or dealer immobilizer match. Commonly used for engine swaps, salvage rebuilds, race/track builds, and lost-key situations where reprogramming keys is impractical. Coverage depends on ECU part number, hardware revision, and processor — send label photos if you want us to confirm support for your specific unit before ordering.
Available Services
Also useful:
- Subaru BIU Services — if you want to keep the factory key system and pair a new key instead of disabling the immobilizer.
Not Sure Which Service to Choose?
If you are unsure which option matches your Subaru module, the safest path is to email or text us photos before ordering:
- Full label of the original module (the one you want serviced)
- Full label of the donor module, if you already have one
- The part number, hardware revision, and software/calibration sticker
- Photo of the connector pinout if visible
We will confirm whether the service is supported for your specific part number and hardware revision before you order and ship.
Compatibility Warning
Part number and hardware revision compatibility matter. Cloning and many programming services only work when the original module can be read AND a compatible donor of the same hardware family is available — for example, Denso to Denso, Hitachi to Hitachi, SH7058 to SH7058, SH72531 to SH72531. Mismatched part numbers, different processors, or different hardware revisions typically cannot be cloned. If unsure, send label photos so we can verify compatibility before you ship.
What to Ship
- Your original Subaru module (the failed/locked unit), clearly marked “ORIGINAL”
- If applicable: a donor module, clearly marked “DONOR” — same part number family and hardware revision as the original
- Your order receipt printed, or order number written on a slip in the box
- Your return shipping address
- Ship to the address shown on your order receipt at checkout (we operate from 2 locations and route based on tool availability and turnaround)

FAQ
Which SH chip is in my Subaru ECU?
Look at the main chip label on the ECU board. SH7058 is the older Denso chip used in many 2002–2014 Subarus. SH72531 is the newer Denso chip used in many 2013–2017 Subarus. Some years overlap and some trims use different ECUs — send us photos of your ECU label to confirm before ordering.
Will my Subaru start without any key pairing after IMMO Off?
In supported configurations, yes — once IMMO Off is applied the ECU typically ignores the immobilizer challenge from the SKIM/BIU. The vehicle can then start without requiring a chipped key paired to the immobilizer. Some installations may still need adjustments at the BIU or cluster level depending on what other modules are checking the immobilizer state.
What about the dashboard immobilizer light?
The dashboard “key” or immobilizer light may remain on after ECU IMMO Off because it is driven by the BIU/cluster, not the ECU. This is generally cosmetic and does not affect engine operation. If you want a fully clean dashboard, consider the Subaru IMMO Sync Service which virginizes ECU and BIU together.
Is IMMO Off legal?
Disabling the immobilizer on a vehicle you own is generally legal in most US jurisdictions for personal, track, and race use. We do not perform IMMO Off on stolen-recovery vehicles or units with active insurance flags. Customer is responsible for ensuring legal use in their jurisdiction.
Do I need a donor ECU for IMMO Off?
For IMMO Off we typically need only your original ECU. No donor required unless your original cannot be read.
Turnaround?
Same-day for ECUs received before 2pm in most cases. Typical 2–4 business days ship-to-running.
