Subaru Cluster Services

Subaru Instrument Cluster (IPC / Speedometer / Combination Meter) services — supported cluster cloning, mileage transfer, key data copy, dash upgrade, and cluster repair across many Subaru models from roughly 2000–2025, depending on cluster type, part number, and donor compatibility. When you replace a Subaru cluster, the new unit may not match your VIN, mileage, or immobilizer pairing without proper data transfer. We transfer supported VIN, mileage, key data, and immobilizer pairing from your original cluster to a compatible donor when the original can be read.

Not Sure Which Service to Choose?

If you are unsure which option matches your Subaru module, the safest path is to email or text us photos before ordering:

  • Full label of the original module (the one you want serviced)
  • Full label of the donor module, if you already have one
  • The part number, hardware revision, and software/calibration sticker
  • Photo of the connector pinout if visible

We will confirm whether the service is supported for your specific part number and hardware revision before you order and ship.

Compatibility Warning

Part number and hardware revision compatibility matter. Cloning and many programming services only work when the original module can be read AND a compatible donor of the same hardware family is available — for example, Denso to Denso, Hitachi to Hitachi, SH7058 to SH7058, SH72531 to SH72531. Mismatched part numbers, different processors, or different hardware revisions typically cannot be cloned. If unsure, send label photos so we can verify compatibility before you ship.

What to Ship

  • Your original Subaru module (the failed/locked unit), clearly marked “ORIGINAL”
  • If applicable: a donor module, clearly marked “DONOR” — same part number family and hardware revision as the original
  • Your order receipt printed, or order number written on a slip in the box
  • Your return shipping address
  • Ship to the address shown on your order receipt at checkout (we operate from 2 locations and route based on tool availability and turnaround)

FAQ

Why do I need cluster cloning?

A donor Subaru cluster will show the donor vehicle’s VIN and mileage, and may not communicate correctly with your BIU/ECU due to different immobilizer pairing data. Cloning transfers supported EEPROM data from your original cluster to a compatible donor — so the donor displays your factory mileage, recognizes your keys, and pairs with your BIU + ECU when the original is readable.

Will the mileage be correct?

When the original cluster’s EEPROM is readable, we transfer the stored mileage value to the donor cluster. This is the standard way to maintain accurate mileage when replacing a damaged cluster. Some severely damaged clusters with unreadable EEPROM may not be recoverable.

What if my original cluster is dead?

Even if the cluster will not power up, the EEPROM is often still readable at the chip level. Ship it in with your donor — we will tell you up front whether your mileage and VIN data are recoverable before charging full service.

Does cluster clone affect the airbag light or check engine light?

No — cluster clone is focused on mileage, VIN, and key data. Active fault codes from other modules (SRS, ECU, ABS) will still illuminate their respective dash lights. If you have a persistent SRS light from a crash, see our Subaru Airbag Module Services.

What is “cluster upgrade”?

Some Subaru owners want to swap from a base cluster (basic gauges) to a higher-trim cluster (color TFT, more features). Our cluster upgrade service transfers supported VIN, mileage, and key data from your original to the upgrade cluster so it can work with your existing BIU + ECU. Compatibility depends on cluster part number and hardware revision — confirm with photos before ordering.

Turnaround?

Same-day for clusters received before 2pm in most cases. Typical 2–4 business days ship-to-running.
