Subaru BIU Services

Subaru BIU (Body Integrated Unit) services — supported cloning, repair, and key programming for Subaru BIU / Fuse Box modules across many model years from roughly 2005 onward, depending on BIU type, part number, and donor compatibility. The Subaru BIU is the body computer that controls power windows, locks, lighting, immobilizer key recognition, instrument cluster communication, and the fuse box layout. Coverage depends on hardware revision and what data can be read from the original — send label photos if you want us to confirm support for your specific unit before ordering.

Not Sure Which Service to Choose?

If you are unsure which option matches your Subaru module, the safest path is to email or text us photos before ordering:

  • Full label of the original module (the one you want serviced)
  • Full label of the donor module, if you already have one
  • The part number, hardware revision, and software/calibration sticker
  • Photo of the connector pinout if visible

We will confirm whether the service is supported for your specific part number and hardware revision before you order and ship.

Compatibility Warning

Part number and hardware revision compatibility matter. Cloning and many programming services only work when the original module can be read AND a compatible donor of the same hardware family is available — for example, Denso to Denso, Hitachi to Hitachi, SH7058 to SH7058, SH72531 to SH72531. Mismatched part numbers, different processors, or different hardware revisions typically cannot be cloned. If unsure, send label photos so we can verify compatibility before you ship.

What to Ship

  • Your original Subaru module (the failed/locked unit), clearly marked “ORIGINAL”
  • If applicable: a donor module, clearly marked “DONOR” — same part number family and hardware revision as the original
  • Your order receipt printed, or order number written on a slip in the box
  • Your return shipping address
  • Ship to the address shown on your order receipt at checkout (we operate from 2 locations and route based on tool availability and turnaround)

FAQ

What is a Subaru BIU?

The Body Integrated Unit (also called Fuse Box, BCM, or Body Computer) is the master body-control module on many 2005+ Subarus. It manages power windows, central locks, exterior lighting, interior lights, wipers, and — critically — immobilizer key recognition and SKIM (Smart Key) functionality. If your Subaru cannot recognize keys, has lost all keys, or has random body-electrical faults, the BIU is often involved.

When do I need a Subaru BIU clone?

Common reasons include: (1) original BIU is dead or water-damaged, (2) salvage Subaru with mismatched BIU, (3) swap to a known-good donor BIU while keeping existing keys/VIN, or (4) full Subaru IMMO Sync (BIU + ECU + Cluster). Cloning is supported when the original BIU can be read and a compatible donor is available.

What is “all keys lost” and how does it relate to BIU?

All Keys Lost (AKL) happens when every working key for your Subaru is gone — stolen, broken, or never provided with the car. The BIU stores the immobilizer secret and authorizes new keys. To program new keys with no working key on hand, we work directly on the BIU at the bench level when supported by the specific BIU type.

Do I need to ship the entire fuse box?

Many modern Subaru BIUs are integrated into the under-dash fuse box assembly, so the full fuse box unit is usually needed. Some older Subarus have a separate BIU module. Photos of your specific unit help us confirm what to ship before you remove it.

Will my factory keys still work after BIU clone?

When the original BIU can be read and a compatible donor is available, BIU clone transfers supported immobilizer pairing and SKIM data to the donor so existing factory keys typically continue to work. Some configurations may need follow-up steps.

Turnaround?

Same-day for BIUs received before 2pm in most cases. Typical 2–4 business days ship-to-running.
