ECU Cloning Service — Plug & Play IMMO, VIN & Coding

Fast nationwide mail-in. Most jobs done in 24+ hrs.

What is ECU Cloning?

We copy critical data from your original ECU to a donor ECU: immobilizer (IMMO) data, VIN, coding, calibrations, and adaptation values. Result: the donor behaves like your original (plug-and-play in most cases).

When do you need it?

  • Original ECU has hardware damage (water/fire, driver IC failure, board damage).
  • No start after ECU failure but EEPROM/flash are readable.
  • To avoid dealer programming and key learning costs/time.

Pros (Why cloning is great)

  • Plug & play in most platforms — no dealer coding required.
  • Fast — typical bench time 24+ hrs after delivery.
  • Preserves your VIN/IMMO/coding and learned parameters.
  • Works across major families: Bosch (ME/MED/EDC/MD1/MG1), Siemens/Continental (MSV/Simos/SID), Denso, Delphi, Magneti Marelli, Hitachi.

Cons / Limitations (Read before shipping)

  • Tampered/modified software: if someone previously “tuned,” corrupted, or manipulated the original software, a 1-to-1 clone will carry those issues onto the donor.
  • Unreadable original: if EEPROM/flash are unreadable, full clone may not be possible.
  • Donor must match: hardware & software versions need to match. We strongly recommend an exact part number donor.
  • Certain platforms still need on-vehicle adaptations (e.g., anti-theft handshake, throttle/adaptation resets).

If cloning is not the best option

  • Virginization of the donor: reset to “new” state for dealer/scan-tool adaptation on the car. Learn more →
  • IMMO-off (where legally applicable and technically supported): disables the immobilizer function to allow starting without IMMO pairing. Alternatives →
  • VIN/coding correction only (when most data are intact). VIN Correction →
  • Bench unlock / boot-mode read on ECUs with locked processors (select Bosch MD1/MG1, etc.).

What to ship

  1. Your original ECU (even if damaged) — we attempt safe EEPROM/flash read.
  2. Donor ECU with the exact same part number (or verified compatible).
  3. Vehicle info: year/make/model, engine, VIN, and any fault symptoms.
  4. Order # / quote # printed in the box.

Tip: Email us donor & original part numbers before shipping for compatibility confirmation.

1) Request / Order
Place the order or request a quote. You’ll receive the ship-to address.
2) Ship Modules
Send original + donor (if available) with vehicle details and part numbers.
3) We Clone & Verify
EEPROM/flash transfer, VIN/IMMO/coding copy, bench communication test.
4) Return Ready-to-Install
Most vehicles start immediately; some may need minor on-car adaptations.

ECU Cloning FAQs

Will my car start right away?
In most platforms, yes — that’s the goal of cloning. Some cars still require throttle/adaptation resets or basic settings with a scan tool.
Can you clone a used ECU?
Yes, when hardware and software versions are compatible. Send both part numbers for confirmation before shipping.
What if my original ECU software is corrupted or tuned?
A 1-to-1 clone will copy corruption or manipulations to the donor. In these cases we recommend virginization of the donor and programming on-car, or an IMMO-off solution where legally supported.
Turnaround time?
Typical bench time is 24+ hours after delivery (plus shipping). Complex or locked ECUs may require extra time.
