Land Rover and Range Rover SRS Modules Covered

Our reset service covers the full modern Land Rover and Range Rover lineup: Defender 90 and 110 (L316 and new L663), Discovery 2, 3, 4 and 5, Freelander 1 and LR2, Range Rover L322, L405 and L460, Range Rover Sport L320, L494 and L461, Range Rover Evoque L538 and L551, and Range Rover Velar L560. Typical part numbers we bench-test and reset include YWC000740, YWC500250, YWC500550, LR018587, LR041454, LR073579, LR075167, LR103322, BJ32-14B321-AB, EJ32-14B321-AC and HY32-14B321-BB. If your sticker number is not listed above, send us a photo: Land Rover re-stamped part numbers frequently and most variants map back to a Bosch or Autoliv module family we already handle.

Why the Rover SRS Module Needs Specialized Handling

Land Rover encrypts its CAN crash-data frames with a rotating seed tied to the vehicle VIN. Generic airbag-reset tools either throw a security-access timeout or brick the module trying to write the wrong EEPROM region. Our bench pulls the security key directly from the Flash region using a Bosch-specific JTAG pod, clears the crash counter and returns the module with VIN, coding and mileage intact. The JLR SDD diagnostic tool recognizes the module post-reset as a healthy unit with zero stored DTCs.

Symptoms That Point to a Crash-Data Lockout

The giveaway on a Rover is a red airbag lamp that comes on and stays on the instant the ignition hits IGN-ON, combined with SDD fault B1001-01 crash stored or B100E-00 deployment command recorded. Some L405 and L494 owners also see a Restraints System Fault Service Required message on the TFT cluster and lose the occupant-weight sensor readout. All of these are cleared by our reset so long as the airbags, pretensioners and front crash sensors on the vehicle have already been replaced.

Removing the Module for Shipment

On most L322, L320 and L405 vehicles the SRS module is bolted under the center console, forward of the shifter. Disconnect the battery and wait ten minutes for the airbag capacitors to discharge before unplugging the module: this is non-negotiable for safety. Remove the two yellow locking CAN connectors, pull the module out with its two T-30 Torx bolts, bag it in antistatic film and ship it to us. On Evoque and Velar the module lives in the passenger kick panel instead; a Chilton or JLR workshop manual page reference will get you to it in under ten minutes.

Turnaround is 24 to 48 hours on the bench. Open a work order on the nationwide mail-in contact page with your VIN and the module part number and we will send return-shipping instructions.
