Which Volvo SRS Modules We Reset and Their Part Numbers
Volvo airbag control unit (SRS module in factory terminology) went through three electronic generations that our bench handles daily. The early Bosch-built module (Volvo part number ranges 30658309, 30725169, 8622851) served the 1998 to 2004 S40, V40, C70 and first-generation S80. The mid-generation Autoliv unit (30643308, 30752635, 30730586, 30732880) ran 2004 to 2010 on the P1 platform C30, S40 II, V50 and C70 II. The late TRW module (P31406614, 31443830, 31340089, 31451118, 31357325) lives behind the center console on the 2007-forward P3 platform: S60, V60, S80 II, V70 III, XC60 and XC70, and on early SPA XC90. If your sticker reads one of these or supersedes one, our reset works.
What Gets Cleared During the Reset
We wipe the crash-event record, the rollover flag, both front impact-severity thresholds, the pyrotechnic seat-belt pretensioner counters, the PACOS passenger-airbag cut-off memory, and any curtain-airbag squib history. The module Volvo software revision, VIDA build number, end-of-line CAN address and paired VIN stay exactly as Volvo programmed them: the unit plugs back in and VIDA or DICE recognises it as the same module with a clean event history.
Common Volvo SRS Fault Codes This Service Addresses
Typical codes that arrive with a reset request include SRS-0005 crash data stored, SRS-0044 internal module fault after collision, SRS-002B and SRS-002C pretensioner circuit open after deployment, SRS-0010 rollover recorded, and the blanket SRS system fault service urgent message that appears on the DIM or driver information module after an accident. Once the EEPROM is rewritten, all of these clear and do not return. If a post-reset fault reappears it is almost always a blown squib or damaged crash sensor that still needs replacement on the vehicle, not a module issue.
Ship, Reset, Drop Back In
Volvo SRS module on the P3 platform sits under the center console, accessible by sliding the front seats all the way back and removing two T-30 Torx screws. Pull the two green-locking CAN connectors, bag the module, and overnight it to us. Turnaround is typically 24 hours on the bench; with return shipping most customers see their module back within four business days. Get a work order started on the mail-in contact page: include your VIN and the module part number from the label.
After re-installation, Volvo SRS indicator lamp will perform its normal 3-second self-test on first key-on and then extinguish. No VIDA adaptation is required and no dealer visit is needed, provided the airbags, pretensioners and any damaged impact sensors on the vehicle itself have been properly replaced before the module goes back in.
